Hey all,

I have this G9 stallion who is currently Ht S+, who I can GMT to Hz S+...is it worth it? I would consider selling limited straws also - would S+S+ increase straw worth?

They do have the same sire though, is this frowned upon? I have another G9 stallion but he isn't as good as this boy.

With that extensive white on both i would rethink it. That is me. I amtalking about pairing them together. I like him it might be. I will let others chime in that are more experienced than me on this.

From what I understand WF only kills foals in conjunction with kits, and both horses don't have any lethal combos from first glance, but I'm not too well versed on sb2

KitTobiano is safe to cross with the other Kit mutations, except W1 with extensive white factor. so that should be a safe cross.

As for using horses with the same sire, there are no practical bad effects in the game, as there might be in real life, and the choice is yours. Some players dislike such breeding strategies and avoid them; some really don't care. Speaking for myself, I try to avoid it, but sometimes I can't. If I can't, I just let it happen.

I don't believe extensive WF can be lethal to foals, like Obsidian said. Two copies of Sb2 is safe, there is no risk of a lethal white through that combination.

Even if I don't breed these two together, I was hoping to know if adding S+ would be a worthwhile GMT?!

Well, if you're really looking for a line with S+ consistently, it wouldn't be bad to make him homozygous for it. That would give you a 50-50 chance of either a homozygous S+ foal or a heterozygous S+ foal.

If both he and the mare are heterozygous S+, you have a 1in 4 chance of a foal that is homozygous for it, 2 in 4 chance of a heterozygous S+ foal, and a 1in 4 chance of a foal with no S+ at all.

Personally I like S+, but I'm not too fussed. If it adds to the worth of a horse, combined with quality, then I'm happy to do it!

I was going to pull some eggs from a few G8/9 mares to see how he goes breeding wise, rather than showing wise (as his PT is a little lower than what I would have liked). Passed SBA so I'm confident he should produce some nice foals.

Are you trying to determine how many people might be interested in breeding to him? That's really tricky. I very seldom base my GMT choices on what the 'public' might want, mostly because you can never depend on the 'public' wanting the same thing today as they did last week! I say go with what YOU want! You are probably going to use him more than any other single person!

Personally I wouldn't bother unless you're a super huge S+ fan, plus S+ doesnt seem to enhance lighter horses as nicely as it does dark based horses (in my experience). I'd save it for one that you really need to change something on, but that's just me. I currently have a list of about 10 horses that need to be GMTd =/

I suppose so, I'm really not too fussed on whether he is S+S+ or not! Yes that makes sense Confluence, problem is I don't mind either way :))

Yes I agree Coeur, I'm going to try breed out the lightness of the horses, without too much GMT'ing. Yes I think I'll do that instead!
