A Scope Of An Gen 8 Investment
-
The highest Gen I've seen so far is 8th generation. So I sat down and calculated how many horses and hbs it would take to accomplish such a feat.
255 Horses and 623900 hbs total.
This assumes that everything goes completely perfect with proper male female ratios and no culling and rebreeding needed. Assuming those variables, I'd double the number I got.
I do have the break down of all the testing, breeding, and creation fees if anyone is interested.Be not afraid to ask questions. You're not the only idiot in the room.

Wow! I never thought about how many horses it would take. How did you add it all up? Did you start with 2 stallions and 4 mares in order to have different bloodlines or were you "line breeding"----

Line breeding. One mare to one stallion to completely avoid bloodline crossover. Also this is all in house breeding not using pastures. Like I said this is like ultra perfect circumstances so if anything this is probably a minimum budget.Be not afraid to ask questions. You're not the only idiot in the room.

Though... Since in-house breeding 1000hbs and pasture breeding is 500hbs, If one was not concerned with the pasture bonus and just put each stallion/mare pairing into the pasture one at a time it would shave 63000hbs off resulting in 560900hbs total.Be not afraid to ask questions. You're not the only idiot in the room.

That's so crazy to look at those numbers!SALVISTAR PERFORMANCE HORSES

@Salvistar Let me drag you down this rabbit hole...
128 Foundation Horses (64 Mares and 64 Stallions) = 320,000hbs in creation fees and 89,600hbs in testing fees
64 Generation 2 Horses (32 Mares and 32 Stallions) = 64,000hbs in breeding fees (32,000hbs in pasture) and 44,800hbs in testing fees
32 Generation 3 Horses (16 Mares and 16 Stallions) = 32,000hbs in Breeding fees (16,000hbs in pasture) and 22,400hbs in Testing fees
16 Generation 4 Horses (8 Mares and 8 Stallions) = 16,000hbs in breeding fees (8,000hbs in pasture) and 11,200hbs in testing fees
8 Generation 5 Horses (4 Mares and 4 Stallions) = 8,000hbs in breeding fees (4,000hbs in pasture) and 5,600hbs in testing fees
4 Generation 6 Horses (2 Mares and 2 Stallions) = 4,000hbs breeding fees (2,000hbs in pasture) and 2,800 in testing fees
2 Generation 7 Horses (1 Mare and 1 Stallion) = 2,000hbs in breeding fees (1,000hbs in pasture) and 1,400hbs in testing fees
1 Generation 8 Horse (either gender) = 1,000hbs in breeding (500hbs in pasture) and 700hbs in testing fees
320,000hbs in creation fees
126,000hbs in breeding fees (63,000hbs in pasture)
177,900hbs in testing fees
623,900hbs (560,400hbs) total
This is what an OCD person does for an hour and a half while her almost 2 year old daughter dances to uptown funk being played over and over and over....
I can and probably will come up with a calculation with more realistic ratios that take into account snipped and culled offspring as well as rebreeding needed to account for such.
Oh and a quick disclaimer:
This is for those of us that like completely even aesthetically pleasing pedigrees. A perfectly fine and capable Gen 8 horse can be accomplished with inbreeding and uneven breeding (do this one at your own risk). As long as the horses being bred are close in breeding ability everything will be just fine. You can find this info out by papering your horses or if you're a free player like me, pay attention to your AFPT (Average Foal Performance Test) this can be determined by finding the average of the PT scores amongst the offspring of a horse. Uneven breeding messes with this score so be careful.Be not afraid to ask questions. You're not the only idiot in the room.

Crazy but interesting to see. I would never be able to sit and calculate all of that. And you did it with a 2 year old!? Who wasnt even sleeping! Girl you crazy.

Sweet.

@moonacre stable I'm lucky in that all I have to do is turn on music or my little pony and she's set. Add food to the mix and I don't exist until the food is gone.Be not afraid to ask questions. You're not the only idiot in the room.

Haha too funny!

Crikey, I have gen10 horses, probably gen11 now I'm not sure. I hate to think how many horses and hbs got me there LOL!
-
Exactly. I also hope this will sort of put this games speed into perspective for newer players. This is not a master in an hour games. It takes months to get into a comfortable spot. I started last September and I'm still no where near this.
I also did not add in the hbs spent on IVs to purchase barns to house these horses so this is not the full amount your be spending.Be not afraid to ask questions. You're not the only idiot in the room.
