How do you price studs?

Say your boy is heterozygous for pearl, or homozygous, what would you make his stud fee?
What about saSa?
Where do you value cream and champagne?
I've been looking through the horse search with some of these genes, but the prices vary so greatly it's a bit of a challenge finding a baseline for the more sought after genes.ID# 25784 Home of quality Artylian Drafts & Cobs
Breeding little classic champagnes, pearl snowflakes with DP, KP with DP and other goodies, and axiom on pearl dilutes. -
It all depends on paper level, what generation, and quality.
Pearl is relatively common and cheap to get, so I don't usually price them any different than a regular horse.
Het satin (Sa/sa), depending on quality and generation, maybe 5k or so.
Homozygous satin(sa/sa), again depending on quality, maybe 10k or so for the average homozygous satin stallion.
Cream and champagne are common colors and get priced as such, probably not much more than 500-1000. -
It's rather telling that even doing a search for similar horses can't give you a good answer!
My suggestion is to put him up for what YOU think is a decent price. Put an add on the Breeding Ads part of the forum, see what kind of response you get, and adjust based on that. That is pretty much how I've done it in the past.
