Tack? HaJ version question too.
  • I'm so sorry y'all. not sure if I'm in the right area or if the answers to these will be blatantly obvious. ugh..

I used to be a member of version 1 for quite some time and ended up stopping (I think I deactivited those stables) but am now back but on version 2. What is the difference between the two versions? Are they completely separate to where you cannot trade horses or money etc. from one version to another? (I would assume you cannot)...

Also I've seen some horses on here with some complex tack.. Tack that I used to see on version 1 but on this version my menu seems to be very plain as if more will be added etc. how are these horses tacked with things I don't see on this version in my account? Am I making sense? lol. Like I'm seeing bell boots, polo wraps, even the braided manes and tails and other things I don't have in my drop down menus.

Thanks for your answers and help! :x
  • Hello Ethereala,

I wanted to start off by saying welcome back! :) I'm assuming a lot has changed since you last played the game because Ammit (and the wonderful artists) have been very busy this past year.

You are correct. HJ1 and HJ2 are completely separate. You cannot trade/exchange/sell horses, barns, hbs between the two versions of the game. As far as I understand it HJ1 is the first version and goes through the beta testing before new features are introduced here at HJ2 (version two).

HJ1 has longer game years with each breeding season lasting two real months. HJ2 is a faster paced version with each breeding season lasting one real month.

Regarding the tack, you will notice that the tack tab has "Our tack system is under heavy construction still" meaning exactly that. With the introduction of draft/cobs and light horses/ponies, the tack needs to be revamped to fit all of the body types and the artists are doing a fantastic job working on that. However these new body types will not have tack listed in their drop down menu that warmblood/spot ponies do simply because artwork takes time to make and it has been a busy year. We've also received new backgrounds, some of which can only be purchased with IV's. You can find these backgrounds, dust packs, and a new build-a-bridle pack in the "Upgrade with game money" tab under "IV Shopping". Once unlocked you can use the tack item an unlimited number of times, on any horse you own, for free.

Also, there are a number of member upgrades: free, basic, and premium. Because premium is paid for with real money, thus supporting the game, they have more tack options. Basic members, which can upgrade with real or game money, have less options than premium but more than a free member. Free members have limited tack options, but you can still tack your horses/ponies up in spiffy accessories. In case you were wondering, tack does not benefit a horses performance in the show ring.

I hope that covers everything. Let me know if you need clarification on anything else. :)

  • @Ritsika

Thank you for the warm welcome! Ah yes, a lot has changed.
Things are looking so wonderful. It's gotta say something to the artists and creator that I just came back after a year give or take on their new version and bought premium straight away without barely even looking around first, lol. Love this game so much. I appreciate the art and thought gone into it so much. It's definitely unlike any other out there!

And okay, yeah. That would make sense if HJ1 was used as the beta/tester..

And I did notice the construction so I was mainly leaning towards believing everything is just still being added, etc. so I wasn't too worried just a little confused. I myself breed mostly drafts/heavy horses so I didn't even think to take into consideration the fact that different breeds need different sized tack. I haven't had any smaller horse breeds yet so I haven't been able to explore their tack options.

Thank you so much for your well-put response! :)

  • You are very welcome, Ethereala.

Though, I must admit, I'm not sure if HJ1 is the beta/tester. I made the assumption due to the fact that all new body types and site-wide changes occurred on HJ1 before making their debut here on HJ2.
  • Hello & thank you so much, @DragonRun :)
  • Welcome. When HaJ2 was newer and had considerably fewer members than HaJ1, it was frequently used as a beta-test platform. Now the two are closer in size, and Ammit has started putting upgrades into HaJ1 first.

I hope you'll soon be feeling at home and having fun.
