Naming Problem - possible bug..?

Ok so I've recently been using the # to give my horses a random number as a name, and it suddenly stopped working for me. Instead it named a foal as #, rather than giving a number and I can't use it on any other horse. This is the foal in question:
#Producer of Volcanic Glass Drafts. Lapisobsidianus.
Prices are almost always negotiable. -

I haven't got any horse named # and it won't let me use # to number my creations♡ ID #23495 ♡
