Why does he do this (DP question)
-
Not sure if I've asked this yet or just thought about it that much.
My seemingly normal RS throws a suspicious amount of dark foals. He has vanish and it's hard to see his base.
CG Doodad RS
(Note the buckskin and brown mares that look like twins on the first page of his foals have varnish but we're rather dark as well)
Then only reason I falter with whether or not he is a DP carrier is that he isnt that dark and he hasn't produced a liver or chocolate foal with the damn already having DP.
His brown and some bay foals are just so dark it makes me second guess myself all the time and I need someone to tell for sure he isnt DP and it's just so strong sooty at work

With the hom sty genes if he had a single DP gene I believe he as a brown, would have black along his top to maybe mid body. I don't know much about varnish but if it's a lightening effect his top would then be gray instead of chestnut color. Basically I strongly believe this boy has no DP.
I do a visual comparison with this link and anything I'm on the fence about.
