What genes control snowflake app? How can I tell if I have a carrier?Thanked by 1supersarah

Well LP basically. But snowflake is a gene that you pay to put on horses when Ammit has it for sale. It can be created randomly however the only way to know if you have a carrier (unless you pay for it or the horse has a homozygous parent) is if you breed it to a known snowflake whether its homozygous or heterozygous (homozygous would give you more of a chance each time) and you get a homozygous snowflake foal. It only shows in its homozygous form but it needs at least one copy of LP to show up as well.

Snowflake also comes up rarely as a hidden bonus when you create horses. Since it will only be heterozygous in that case, you won't be able to see it, but if the horse gets through testing intact, and you happen to breed it to another Snowflake carrier, you may suddenly have a visibly Snowflake foal. My daughter had one crop up when she bred a Snowflake carrying Appy stallion to a non-appaloosa plain chestnut mare that she had created several game years before. Lo and behold, a Snowflake foal was born, that was lucky enough to have its sire's appaloosa gene and snowflake from both parents.De gustibus non disputandum. "There's no arguing about tastes."

Thank-you. That was very helpful.

Snowflake can be homozygous on create. Not sure if it has happened yet but the chance of a horse being hom for snow and having LP and having a small enough PATN that you can see it is crazy rare.

Thanks, for that information, Ammit. It's nice to know that it can happen, even if it's extremely rare.De gustibus non disputandum. "There's no arguing about tastes."
