tack for gens?
-
Is it good to use like a bow in the tail for foundations. Bow and halter for 2g. I dont have tattoos so will this work?
-
You can't do a search for the different tack items, like you can with the tattoos, so that might be a problem, but if you do a search for an entire barn, it will show the pictures, and you could identify them that way. In the beginning people used different colored halters to sort.

Everyone has their own way. I personally just put the gen number in the name--that way I don't have to open every single mare to figure out who she should be bred to or what pasture she should go in. I have a full on color/pattern code that I combine with the gen # to create the suffix at the end of my horses' names, so I know at a glance where they fit in my breeding program. I use tattoos for LE and GMT genes so I can quickly search my herd for those horses, but don't use tattoos to sort mares for breeding. I don't really use tack or backgrounds much at all. I keep having good intentions about doing them for all my stallions but it just hasn't happened!

Thanks Cheers. Didnt think about the number in the name. I will do that to. Thanks.
