Question about Generations
  • How do you tell what Gen. a horse is?
Where quality Show and Performance Horses are bred.
    ID#11406
  • When you click on a horse you go to their profile. Their profile has tabs at the top labeled: Horse Info, Family, Records, Control Panel, and Tack.

By going to the Family tab, you can then identify the horse's generation by counting the number of sires and dams in the lineage.

    For example: A foundation horse

    And a fourth generation horse:

    EDIT:

A horse can also be "uneven" where the lineage of the sire and dam do not equal.

    For example:
    image

This foal has a foundation mare as the dam and a third generation stallion as the sire.

    Looking at the sire:

You can see that he is the result of a foundation dam and a second generation stud. I hope that's not too much all at once but I suddenly remembered that uneven pedigrees might interest you as well. If you have any other questions please ask away and I will do my best to help. :)
