I know this post is delayed by a few days, but it is exciting news.
As of Christmas morning, I am engaged to my boyfriend of almost 5 years. When he pulled the ring from his pocket, I was completely shocked and began to cry. At the family dinner later that day, people were asking if we had a date yet; um, not even engaged for 12 hours before the bombardment begins. I will have to get used to the word Fiance being applied to my person, and to my loving man. For the first time in my life, and almost at the age of 30, I am a betrothed woman. Sunday really did feel like a dream to me. I woke up on Monday thinking that it was still a dream, but the ring was STILL there on my finger!
Now begins the penny pinching, date-food-location-guests discussions. God knows I am going to need some serious strength to get me through this with out getting cold feet. -
Congratulations! Don't let people get you down with their questions and opinions! Planning a wedding can be tough but keep your eye squarely on the marriage and you'll be set. Enjoy the special moments along the way!

Thank you Cheers, words of encouragement are appreciated. The planning and saving up are going to have to be fast. My fiance and I want for my 84 year old Grandma to be at our wedding, and she is not not fit for any long distance travel; therefore the wedding is coming to her. Sadly, the family does not expect for her to make it through this coming spring.

Congratulations! My wedding was in a park, with lawn chairs, and jeans were encouraged. Perfect for me!
-
Congratulations! Have a quick family ceremony at grandmas so she won't miss a thing. Then you can plan your big day for a later date.
-
Congratulations! How exciting! I hope it all works out perfectly. :)

Congratulations! What an exciting new chapter to begin. :D
And I agree with Cheers and Foxx. Don't lose sight of the reason you are planning the wedding. You get to spend the rest of your life with your best friend! A ceremony at grandma's will be beautiful! -
Thank you ladies. A view of the Most expensive little jewelry item in my possession.Thanked by 1jailee

Congratulations! Your ring is absolutely lovely :)

What a lovely ring! Congratulations to you and your fiance. I will support the advice others have mentioned--have a simple ceremony and celebration your grandma can be part of and a big celebratory shindig later, if you want to have more of the traditional trappings.

This is so exciting a congratulations!
I wholeheartedly support the simple wedding ceremony. Out of all the weddings I've been to it was the simple ones that turned out to be the most fun----

Congrats!
As a person who works in flowers, and has put together (with help) several hundreds of weddings in my 21 plus years in Whole Foods Market Floral Department, check out what your local grocery store floral department can do for you for wedding flowers. Usually its much cheaper than going to a Florist, and check if they deliver or not too, because some don't and you would need to make arrangements to pick up the flowers to go to the event.
Good luck and Congrats again! -
Congratulations! The ring is beautiful.
