inconsistent horses
-
Is it better to geld and spay them or to sell them?
-
@Best friend, that is up to the breeder.
I don't use consistency testing all that much but I typically leave the auto-alter box checked. So I guess I would rather geld/spay and keep as a show horse. The only time I uncheck the auto-alter box is for the best of pasture foal because, if they have the right genes, I will GMT them to be consistent.
If you do sell them, intact or altered, I think their value wouldn't be any more than auction value.
I hope that helps. :)Thanked by 1msolomonor -
I also do not use consistency testing, but that is just my personal way of playing the game. Even if they are inconsistent they still earn me points toward my show bonus. You get more show bonus if you spay or geld and show them rather than selling or auctioning. It just depends on how much barn space you have to hang onto them.

I use consistency testing for several reasons. Mostly because I put so many foals on the ground, it's an extra way to weed out some of them to keep as show ponies instead of as future breeders, but also because inconsistency can significantly reduce PT and I'm trying to breed higher PTs.
I personally keep the vast majority of the spayed and gelded horses I breed as show ponies. In fact, of the 8097 horses I own, 5271 are altered. Running a show herd that huge is what allows me to buy barns, breed and test everything each season without spending more money on the game. I've been playing for 14 months now and I know some of the older players like Paints run even bigger show strings and have so much show bonus coming in every week that they are constantly having to sink hbs into IVs to stay under the limit. I will get there someday!Thanked by 1PaintsStables -
Ok thanks everyone. I guess I will alter them and put them in my show string.
