How to determine foals worth?
-
-
You should post a link to the foal to get a better feed back.
-
Stunner, the picture IS the link.
Star Strike, I personally wouldn't pay more than a couple thousand for her, and that would be if I were to buy her as a show horse. She's got mixed generations, even though they are way back, and even though I am not one of those people that refuse to deal with uneven pedigrees, it will still bother some people. Her color is nothing fancy, and she hasn't been PT tested, so I don't know if she will be a good show horse.

Confluence, players like Stunner and I can't use the picture link. It doesn't work on mobile----

Can you post a link, please? The picture as link doesn't work for those of us playing on mobile devices.
But, as a basic rule of thumb from my point of view:
A horse that is not free tested (Mare or Gelding Advice and Showing Aptitude Test) is a gamble and probably worth about 1000 hbs to me.
A spayed or gelded foal may be worth 2600 hbs to me (auction price). I might buy upper generation spays or gelds to add to my show herd.
A spayed or gelded older horse with lots of points MAY be worth more to me, but it depends on the situation.
An intact filly with no extra testing and no "special" genes is worth Auction price.
An intact filly with extra testing and no special genes is worth auction price or maybe a little more.
An intact filly with no extra testing but with LE or special genes is worth more, potentially much more for a low generation filly. This depends on what genes she carries.
An intact filly with extra testing like Strict Mare Advice with special genes is worth slightly more than one without special testing.
I rarely buy colts for breeding purposes because my papering and comparison requirements are so high.
In general I am pickier about what a I buy as far as bloodlines and papering requirements of ancestors the higher up the generations I go. I am willing to pay a lot for a really well bred foal that meets my breeding goals. And by well bred, I mean I want her ancestors to hit the papering goals or be better than the papering goals I have for my own herd.
All of that said, I probably am one of the strictest breeders in the game. I sell way more foals than I buy. -
Thanks for all of the info! That has helped me out quite a bit!

I can't help on the pricing but mainly wanted to read the answers :)...but for those on mobile devices, if you hold your finger on the pic (equivalent of a right click) a window should pop up with an "open link" button...hope that helpsThanked by 1Cheers

Friesianpaints is correct if you hold your finger down you can open it in a new tab if you're on mobile :)Thanked by 1Cheers
