I was in 7th grade at the time. We were in PE having a free play day and suddenly the teacher wrangled us all up and made us sit quietly. Didn't know what was up then but all the teachers looked freaked out. Found out what had happened next period when a female teacher was led away crying because her husband was in NY and she didn't know what had happened to him. He was fine. Not long after, our teacher turned on the news and we saw the live report of what was happening.
It still blows my mind that I have co-workers that are young enough that they will only know about 9/11 from history books instead of actually being there and seeing it unfold.

My "Lest We Forget".
I was in the car driving from my apartment to my university campus for classes. I remember the total shock, the way the DJs were shocked, and then when the second plane crashed we all started to realize this wasn't some horrible accident...
One of my friends lived in NYC at the time, but thankfully was away on business. He had left the windows in his apartment open, so when he finally got back home his entire house and everything in it was coated in a layer of ash... -
